Bio

Deb Koesters

Having owned a hair salon for 30 years, Deb Koesters’ work in fiber began way before she was ever introduced to felting. A 2010 vacation to see New England’s fall colors opened her eyes to felting. Deb discovered wet felting at a class at Snow Farm in Massachusetts. “ It was so much fun, I was mad that I hadn’t learned it earlier in life, “she says. That was Deb’s first exposure to felting. Because of her trade, she quickly understood the process and materials and how fibers react to every action needed to be felt. Deb’s use of color reflects the understanding of her former practice. Deb Koesters creates gallery-quality freestanding sculptures and wall art, upholstery, runway-worthy fashions, and accessories. Her work is published in books by noted Felters. Eco-dyed and printed wools and silks are a hallmark of her Feltersforte fashion. “People have said that I am a patient teacher when showing the multiple ways working with Wool. I love to see someone who has never felted before and finish a project. The glow on their face makes it so worthwhile. There are so many ways to create beautiful Fiber-art from wool, silk, soap and water. I also love to find found objects and cover them in the wool or use them to sculpt.“ Deb Koesters loves the spontaneity, suspense, and surprise of felting and dyeing .” You never know exactly what you’re going to get.”

FAQ

  • Do I have to be an experienced felt artist to participate?

This class would be considered advanced. It is best if you have some basic wet felting experience. We will be adding sheer silk fabric pieces to your layout which will create a piece of Nuno felt fabric. No two pieces of felt will be the same. Unique and beautiful!

  • What can I expect to get from you?.....from the group?

After you have purchased the Felted Mosaic Necklace tutorial, you will be able to sign into your Thinkific account to access the class. The PDFs will be downloadable and you will be able to print them. You can watch the tutorials online at your convenience through the Thinkific Dashboard. You can join the Deb’s Felting Tutorial Q&A Facebook group. Here you can ask any questions and share your work. If you do not want to join the Facebook group you can ask the questions to me directly through email. Either way works fine. I am happy to help!.

  • How does this all work?

Thinkific is very easy platform to work with. Your lessons will be in one area called course. When you click on your course, you will see your lessons. Simple and easy to access.

  • Is this an independent thing or will there be group work, group sharing, etc?

This group is a little bit of both. You have ability to sign up whenever you are ready. Once you have your supplies( for this class you may already have leftover wool and silk scraps handy) you will be able to start making your necklaces immediately. No need to wait for a special day. This class is online, on demand, whenever it works for you.
